Texas Teacher  Evaluation & Support  System (T-TESS)

T-TESS is a process that seeks to develop habits of continuous improvement, and the process itself best leads to that outcome when appraisers and teachers focus on evidence-based feedback and professional development decisions based on that feedback through ongoing dialogue and collaboration.

Evaluation Schedule 

September:  

Goal Setting Meeting with Appraiser

October - early March: Observations

This event consists of a pre-conference, observation, and post conference. Teachers should be prepared to discuss the planning that went into the lesson during the pre-conference. 

Nov-Dec: SLO Mid Year Check

First week in April: Last Data Point Due

Beginning of April to early May: End of Year Summative and SLO Review

Before meeting, teachers should make sure SLO data is complete and reflect on the personal T-TESS goal. 

August - March: Walk-throughs

Walk-throughs can take place at any time by any administrator. Walk-throughs help admin to stay knowledgeable about what is going on in the classroom. They also provide opportunities to collect evidence for the final evaluation. 

Evaluation

Teachers will be evaluated on the T-TESS Rubric, which is made up of 4 Domains.

The T-TESS Rubric is made of 4 Domains and 16 Dimensions

Domain One: Planning (Communicate during Pre Conference with Evaluator)

T-TESS domain and dimension rubrics include specific descriptors of practices and 5 performance levels; Distinguished, Accomplished, Proficient, Developing, and Improvement Needed.
